Medicare Part D Prescription Plans
Medicare Part D is a program that offers a prescription drug benefit to help Medicare
beneficiaries pay for the drugs they need. The drug benefit is optional and is available to anyone who
is entitled to Medicare Part A or enrolled in Medicare Part B. This benefit is available through a number
of prescription drug plans offered by different insurance companies.
A person new to Medicare has an Initial Open Enrollment
to sign up for the coverage. After that, there is an Annual Open Enrollment each year from October 15th
to December 7th to enroll in the plan or to change plans for the next calendar year.
